Mike McKnight
Dir of Music and Talent

Born in Pleasanton California, Mike grew up as the oldest of five “Air Force Brat” siblings. Early on (7th grade), he learned how to build audio systems from "kits" designed by the then new company, Harmon Kardon, and was building high-powered stereo sound systems by the age of 12. It was one of those crazy “monster” sound systems that landed him his first gig. "It all happened as a fluke!" Mike recalls; "I attended a wedding reception. The groom approached me in a panic, and asked if I'd bring my stuff to the reception hall, as the band never showed. As a result, I made my first $750 (WHOA! At 14 years old no less), and the opportunity to work for the bride’s dad, a Brazilian hotel owner... One thing led to another, and I never looked back". This all began in the summer of 1969!
Mike's irreverence quickly gained him notoriety, as his unique style was bold, and easily recognizable as his own.
He adopted hard Dance, and Euro Club in the early 70's when disco was the rage, and has evolved into a “big room”, dance floor wizard with a staggering global roster of super clubs under his belt to show it...
Jazz is a passion, and part of the arsenal he uses while doing “mashups”, live edits, and now SOULfit™ sessions. Live remixes (edits) are also part of how he moves a dance floor. "I love creating vibrant energy for a smart crowd, but I really love spending time educating crowds during contract residencies”... His musical preferences are eclectic, however these days as he’s an avid dancer, and true NYC / Chicago House Music turns him on.
Currently, Mike is Director Of Operations for an innovative new company, doing market research to add his considerable talents to Team SOULfit™!
